Project History
Beverly Park, St George $550K+The Brief
To create a home that was to be within the existing building foot print, being 2 bed rooms and related to the out doors with landscape that was easy care and required little water
The Result
The pool was removed; a large sunken courtyard was created which integrates to the new living space and master bedroom. After careful planning we proposed to reverse the existing floor plan and place accommodation to the south and living space to the north while the theatre room has a northern and western aspect suited for both winter and summer months utilising proposed landscape detail as shade. The new home offers connection to both the existing front terrace and the rear proposed; while ensuring northern sun fills the new living area. The fresh modern feel still complements the existing streetscape which is filled with homes from the original era, a requirement under the heritage conservation guide lines of Kogarah council. The renovation has also embraced sustainability and is now complete with performance glazing, windows that are positioned to capture breeze and the winter sun while being in shade during summer, rain water system harvesting all roof water (servicing toilets, laundry and exterior taps), solar hot water system and 1 kW Solar system feeding back to the electricity grid. All building waste was sorted for recycling where possible saving the client money on land fill fees while being beneficial to the environment.
