Project History
Penshurst, St George $550K+The Brief
Using the Colonial era as inspiration, the existing home was to be renovated in an environmentally friendly way and incorporate a minor extension to the existing home . The exterior surrounds were to be minimally impacted so that the existing garden and trees could remain. Inside, the rooms to be improved were the kitchen, laundry, bathroom, shower room, 2 livings spaces & 3 bedrooms. An increase in storage space was also included.
The Result
A clever use of space offering great northern solar access filtered through deciduous trees, positioning the kitchen enabling interaction to living space while offering privacy to preparation and working area. General bedrooms able to be closed from living space offering acoustic and thermal comfort while still addressing the detail of the colonial era. Storage addressed by utilising attic space with easy access via a fold away ladder. The minor home extension completes the picture giving that much needed second living space to a growing family.
What the client said
It took us a long time to finalise the design of our home and Matt was very clever with coming up with proposals which addressed my husband's and my concerns and wants. We wanted him to build something that he had never built before. His attention to detail was excellent and he took the brief very seriously. His subcontractors were also very patient, friendly and obliging, and they paid great attention to detail. Matt expects the highest quality from the people who work for him. His follow up afterwards was fantastic and his customer service was great. It took eight months to complete and we are ecstatic.
