The Brief
To create an overall vision of a family home that could be built in stages. The first stage being a second storey extension on top of an existing Australian California Bungalow.
The proposed upper level is to include 3 bedrooms, Ensuite (Stage 2), main bathroom with an emphasis on exterior and interior detail and appropriate circulation space for the family now and into the future.
The Result
The Rossmark team designed a “master plan” that could be built in stages as determined by budget, functionality and buildability enabling an easy process to realise the future ground floor renovation (being a reconfigured kitchen and family room connected to the outdoors via a covered outdoor alfresco)
Stage 1- The upper level extension provides 3 large bedrooms, an Ensuite (Stage 2) and main bathroom. Additionally the stair case (upper floor level) is connected via a ‘bridge’ which enables the northern sun from the upper windows to stream into the existing lower ground level. Importantly, the second storey extension is sympathetic to its period and integrates into Oatley suburbs amongst the other original bungalows.
