Project History
Earlwood, Canterbury-Bankstown $350K - $550KThe Brief
The home had been within the family for many years, Gai and Robert wanted to bring the home to life by providing an upper floor addition that was sympathetic to the existing California bungalow while offering a relaxing retreat embracing the views.
The Result
We created a first floor addition that contained a beautiful lounge room that incorporates views of the city of Sydney through to the Blue Mountains, the main bedroom and bathroom were also orientated to capture the city views and embraced the solar access available during winter while being in shade to the north during summer. A spacious walk in robe is neatly tucked away within in the master bedroom while using the bathroom as an acoustic block to the lounge room. The character was preserved ensuring integration between floors utilising existing design features- cypress floor boards, plaster cornice, chair rails, authentic skirting boards, architrave and doors. Externally we continued with new terracotta roof tiles and exposed rafters, lining boards and gable detail incorporating a new colour scheme.
