The Brief
To provide accommodation for two growing boys, along with a chill out room while remaining sympathetic to the existing home.
The Result
A second floor home extension was designed to accommodate the growing needs along with the required shower room and much needed linen cupboard. The staircase was positioned to existing bedroom which now has been converted to a study as a result of the remaining space from the staircase. The staircase detail partners with the existing dining/lounge room providing both spatial relief and detail to what was a small area. Aesthetically the second floor home extension provides a complimentary facade to the existing home and streetscape. Initially the client was advised by a local real estate agent that a first floor addition was not possible on this small lot of land. Careful attention was paid to this issue and a compliant council submission was made with an all round great result.
