The Brief
The existing home had multiple “ad-hoc” renovations and additions over time, resulting in the disjointed use of rooms and having little relationship to the outdoors. Family lifestyle was the centrepiece of the clients brief, the proposed extension had to include a large common room for family day-to-day living and integrate to the outdoor spaces. Additionally, the existing laundry and bathroom were to be renovated with consideration given to their location within the dwelling.
The Result
The design achieved their brief and more. We reconfigured their home to incorporate an enlarged kitchen, a new living, separate WC, bathroom, laundry and a deck. This not only gives them more space, but space that functions well according to the needs and purpose of the family’s needs now and to the future.
The Rossmark-designed home extension involved demolition of the numerous “add ons” and construction of an integrated open plan living room, dining room and kitchen that opens onto a beautiful covered patio.
The kitchen was configured with a servery bench and bi-fold window, ensuring that the relationship between the kitchen and patio is established. This improves the entertaining lifestyle as well as the general day-to-day living. The new laundry and bathroom placement was carefully thought out, its central location within the building provides both easy access and privacy in terms of bedroom accommodation and guest interface. The home extension and renovation provides for the family’s needs, as well as maintains and enhances the existing cottage charm, providing a warm family feeling throughout.
